VWA 30 Stories – Amy

For #VWA30 day 25 we spoke to Amy Round about her VWA story –

I registered with VWA back in 2006 when I had decided to move away from recruitment after being burned by 2 years of long hours, targets and high pressure in a fast and furious IT recruitment company after graduating. My only request to Victoria (Tori to us) was that I would do anything EXCEPT recruitment. Tori spent hours with me working out my skills, personality and preferences, and taking time to get to know me on a personal level. After weeks of conversations, psychometric tests, and advice, I was lucky enough to be asked to join VWA as a Consultant. I was promised “absolutely no cold calling; a family oriented, fun team culture; and lots of career development” and that is precisely what I got. I LOVED my 6 years at VWA with a passion and learnt so much about working in a team, problem solving, and providing unbeatable client and candidate service. VWA nurtured me, invested in me, and put me through training, expanding my skill set to incorporate facilitation and coaching, setting me up perfectly for my current role at Google as Head of Recruitment for Sales and Marketing, EMEA.

I will be forever grateful to Tori, Simon and everyone at VWA for completely changing my mind about recruitment, for believing in me wholeheartedly, and for allowing me to learn and grow in this amazing industry. Thank you, VWA!

What do you think of when you hear VWA?
– Family (cheesy, but true!). High quality, people-oriented recruitment at its best.
