A Personalised Approach to Success: One Candidate's Journey with VWA
By Sophia Voce
We recently caught up with Anna Makris, a Temporary Senior Coordinator, to learn about her journey with VWA. Having partnered with us for over 15 years, Anna has experienced our approach as both a candidate and a temporary in-house team member. In this Q&A, Anna shares her insights into what makes VWA’s personalised and supportive recruitment process stand out.
Could you tell us a bit about your career background and the role you were seeking when you connected with VWA?
"I met with VWA when looking for a C-Suite EA role about 15 years ago. I have worked with them ever since."
What initially attracted you to VWA, and why did you decide to use a recruitment consultancy in your job search?
"I liked their thorough, honest approach to matching me with a role that aligned with my skillset, requirements and values."
How would you describe your experience working with the VWA team? Was there anything in particular that stood out to you?
"I have worked both in placements through VWA, and on a temporary contract in-house too. The team is made up of the most experienced, hard-working and welcoming individuals that you could hope to work alongside. Good culture is a primary motivator for me in any role I seek. They have it in spades. This starts at the top and filters throughout the team."
Did VWA support you in identifying roles you hadn’t previously considered, or help clarify the type of position that suited you best?
"Yes, I would say they take the most personalised approach to finding a good match for both candidates and employers."
How did the VWA team help you through the recruitment process, from application to interview preparation?
"Good candidate preparation. Excellent background to the firm and roles I was considering. No pressure to accept a role I do not find a match for my skillset or values. Great feedback throughout the interview process."
What aspects of VWA’s approach did you find most helpful, and how did it differ from other recruitment experiences you may have had?
"VWA are a smaller than some of the other recruitment agencies who clearly only prioritise clients over candidates. It stands to reason that the best match for any client is one in where both candidate and client are served equally well. VWA get the balance right. Their reputation relies on it, and they deliver."
How has your career progressed since securing your role through VWA, and what impact has the role had on your professional development?
"What I’m looking for in a role has changed over the long period of time that I’ve partnered with VWA. They have always been supportive of these shifts and changes in requirements. This is not easy to find in a recruitment agency, but it’s something that is always appreciated by the candidate."
Would you recommend VWA to other job seekers, and if so, what would you say to them about working with VWA?
"Absolutely. VWA will always be my first port of call, as long as I stay in the same industry and role. I’d recommend anyone wanting a highly-skilled, personalised approach to their job or candidate hunt to get in touch with them."
