I registered with three recruitment agencies when it was time to start exploring new roles and opportunities (I was in a management position at the time). I was referred to all three by friends.

Less than two months later, I am working for VWA. And here’s why.

Both of the other agencies were not the right fit. With the first, I received a few job descriptions and had an interview, but nothing was quite right. I found a role by myself elsewhere, but came back to them at the start of the year when looking for my next position. I called frequently, but never once spoke to a Consultant – I was always promised a call back, but those calls never came. Eventually, I emailed, appealing to their honesty about what they could offer. I received a reply confirming that they currently did not have roles available for me. I am still waiting for the call to discuss this…

Whilst working with the second agency, I did not have an interaction with a human being at any point in the process. An avalanche of emails with potential positions tumbled tirelessly into my inbox once my profile was created. Dragging myself through all of these emails and their website was mind-numbing; I could sense my brain cells withering away, one by one. I built an excellent relationship with their website, but not with a single human being.

VWA was recommended to me by a friend previously placed by them. The day after I submitted my CV and application to the website, I received a call from Hannah Otty. Friendly, bubbly and genuinely interested in who I was. A ten minute chat developed into booking a registration call two days later. The call was half an hour, and Felicity spent most of the conversation delving into what I was looking for and what I wanted. No sooner had I registered than I started to receive calls from different Consultants, with a multitude of opportunities that ticked all of my boxes. The team were people-focused, professional and passionate. Within two weeks, I had two interviews. Less than two months later, I am writing this blog from my desk in the VWA office. Hilarious, I know. Recruited by the recruiters – how does that happen?
