Meet the Team: Stacey

Continuing our Meet the VWA Team series, it’s time for us to hear from Finance Controller Stacey...

What is your role at VWA and how long have you been part of this awesome team?

I’m the Finance Controller and have only been with VWA a short while (joining in June 23) and I’m loving it 😊

Can you please briefly describe a day in the life of a Finance Controller?

I’m involved with all things finance from supplier invoices, customer invoices, credit control, payroll, expenses and the management accounts.

What is your favourite thing about your job?

I love all things finance (I guess that makes me a little bit of a geek!)

What is your least favourite thing about your job? Careful ha ha!

I’ve not come across anything I dislike so far!

What were you doing before you joined VWA?

I was working as a financial controller at Frontier Medical Group (a manufacturing company who sell medical devices)

Do you have a favourite restaurant in London?

Being from Wales I am yet to experience London restaurants but I’m sure the team will guide me to the best places 😊

Can you please describe your perfect Sunday?

Get up in the morning (not too early), maybe walk to the park with the family, a nice Sunday lunch somewhere and then home for the afternoon to relax and watch movies, bliss!

Which is your favourite season and why?

I’d have to say Spring. It’s not too hot, not too cold and I love Easter!

Dog? Cat? Neither?

I love both! But if I had to choose it would be a Cat 😊 we sadly lost our precious cat, Buffy last year at the grand age of 18. It may be time for us to get a kitten soon, the house is very quiet without a pet (although our 18 month old is making up for it).

If you could jump on a plane to anywhere in the world today, where would you go?

Anywhere in America, I’m fascinated with the USA and my dream would be to travel the States.

Do you have any special talents?

Ummm… not really. Although I’m very good at organising (I know that sounds boring). I’m always looking for places to de-clutter or spaces to organise.

What is your favourite cocktail/mocktail?

A mojito

Do you have a favourite movie?

That’s a tough one but I’m always in the mood for Harry Potter or The Bourne Identity films

Do you have any hobbies?

I love Crossfit and have done it for around 5 years now (although not as much since the little one came along). We often go and watch local competitions at the weekends.

What was the last TV box set you binged on?

The newest season of Black Mirror. I love that every episode is a different story and each one has me hooked.

Do you have anything you’d like to learn? For example DJ’ing or a musical instrument? Line-dancing?!

Being Welsh I am ashamed to say I can’t speak the language so I would love to be able to speak it fluently. My fiancé can and we plan to send Danny (our son) to a Welsh speaking school, so I’m hoping that will give me motivation to practice the language.

Finally, do you have a fun fact that might surprise us about you?

I really enjoy Olympic weightlifting which I got into from Crossfit, although I’m not very good at it haha! We once attended a Michaela Breeze (former British weightlifter) training camp for the day to learn some of her weightlifting tips which was so much fun 😊
