Meet the Team: Miriam

What is your role at VWA and how long have you been part of this awesome team?

I am a Research Associate, and I’ve been part of this awesome team for almost 6 months!

Can you please briefly describe a day in the life of a Research Associate?

A lot of CVs, a lot of calls, and a lot of interviews!

In the research division, we are the lynchpin between candidates and consultants before we begin presenting them to clients. I review ad responses across a multitude of platforms in order to find great candidates who will blow the socks off our clients!

What is your favourite thing about your job?

Definitely the new people I get to chat to – I love finding out about lives, careers and aspirations of our candidates! Meeting new people is my favourite thing to do!

What is your least favourite thing about your job? Careful ha ha!

Some days, there are a lot of spreadsheets.

In all seriousness, my least favourite thing is that we can’t reach out to everyone. I would love to support everyone with their job search, and I wish we could place everyone we meet!

What were you doing before you joined VWA?

I was freelancing for a homelessness charity as Course Director, and working as a Centre Director for Explore Learning. I am also a creative, so I always have creative projects on the side, too!

Do you have a favourite restaurant in London?

Kricket in Soho (I was converted after our Research Team meal) OR Italian Bear Chocolate – not a restaurant but the chocolate cake with the triple melted chocolate is LIFE-CHANGING.

Can you please describe your perfect Sunday?

Church, a huge roast with lots of friends, picnic in the park and a giant real-life game of The Traitors (the TV show – if you’ve seen it, you’ll understand). I’ve never felt adrenaline quite like it.

Which is your favourite season and why?

I love all seasons, but maybe autumn because of hot chocolates, conkers and the trees changing colours!

Dog? Cat? Neither?

Dogs, but I love cats, too!

If you could jump on a plane to anywhere in the world today, where would you go?

Ooooh, SO. MANY. PLACES. Top options would be Nepal, New Zealand, or Bali. Or Disneyworld Florida.

Do you have any special talents?

I can eat an entire (and huge) chocolate ganache cake on demand.

What is your favourite cocktail/mocktail?

A strawberry daiquiri mocktail! Anything sweet and fruity.

Do you have a favourite movie?

It’s impossible to pick, but I love Steel Magnolias and The Upside – they both make me laugh and cry every time!

Do you have any hobbies?

Travelling, singing, writing and performing!

What was the last TV box set you binged on?

Broadchurch – if you haven’t watched it, you MUST.

Do you have anything you’d like to learn? For example DJ’ing or a musical instrument? Line-dancing?!

So many things! I would love to properly learn to play the piano, learn to scuba dive and to cook something amazing – or just cook something.

Finally, do you have a fun fact that might surprise us about you?

I recently officiated a wedding.
